Writing this on my keyboard right now and I am not having this "E" key issue that I was seeing in some reviews. The metal casing and the hinges seem very durable. I could easily see this thing lasting for ages. I have fairly large hands and I couldn't see myself typing on this for more than an hour, but that is not the purpose you would buy this keyboard for.
The headline says it all. Like the quality, like the size, connects with the tablet easily, very portable to carry around.
Typing this review from the iClever keyboard! Bought this a few weeks ago to make my remote work set-up more ergonomical. Purchased a laptop stand to lift my screen to eye level, but that meant I needed a separate keyboard. Since I travel a lot, and work remotely, everything had to be very portable and durable.
- Super compact. more or less the size of an iPhone 8 Plus.
- As soon as the keyboard is closed, the bluetooth and battery power turn off.
- Materials feel sturdy and strong for such a small and pretty inexpensive keyboard
- Definitely takes some time to get used to typing on such a condensed keyboard layout. just need to practice though!
- Not backlit, but I think their bigger version is available with backlit keys, so if that's something you need, go with the bigger model.
- Keys stick a little. So when using the 'E' key, you might get a 'ee' even when you press the key just once. Just means you should proofread carefully. This can be manipulated within the keyboard settings on your computer to an extent. I have only really noticed this on the 'e' and 'a' keys.
MOST IMPORTANTLY: I almost returned this keyboard because I have a Macbook and the iClever FN key, which you're supposed to be able to use for cut, paste, copy etc., wasn't working. Many reviews said that this keyboard's shortcuts are not compatible with mac/ios. However, I use the 'command' key on my laptop keyboard, all the time, so the lack of a copy/paste/new tab shortcut would've been a dealbreaker. Luckily I found out that the "Win" key (circled in red in the pic) is mapped to the 'command' key on my mac! problem mostly solved. It still lacks a little of the functionality that the real 'command' key has, but it drastically improves the usability of the keyboard.
All in all, great keyboard, great price. 100% would recommend!!
Works well with my laptop to be able to have it far away and had the keyboard next to me so I could type when I'm using zwift
l bought this for my husband’s birthday so that i could yell at him for never using the gifts i buy, then keep it for myself. i really like this portable keyboard.
I bought the 'small' iClever Portable Bluetooth Keyboard back in June 2018, and thus, this is my review after near daily usage for the past 9 months. I am Radiology Resident who works in a High-Volume academic center AND who travels a lot for business and pleasure.
Why I bought this?
I originally bought the iClever so that I could 'read out' at work and be able to type everything my attending/boss said to me as fast as possible in as little sq. ft profile as possible AND with my iPhone 7s and subsequent iPhone Xs. Most other residents bring their own laptops or small tablets with keyboards to do this, but I wanted to minimize the 'bulk' of stuff I bring to work every day. I must say that this little device has been incredibly successful at keeping up with my over 2 hours of cumulative non-stop typing per work day that I put into it. For additional brownie points, I have also received a lot of complements and 'wow' comments from other faculty who are impressed by my ability to type super-fast in such a small keyboard that literally takes up 3 x 1 credit-card sized space when open and 1.65 x 1 credit-card sized space when folded.
I found its usage so good at work that now I have started to bring it to all my trips abroad and nationally. I have had no problem bringing it through TSA, US Customs, and select European, Central American and South American customs (I usually leave it within my bag when going through the x-rays). The small factor has been great to me because sometimes I travel 'very bare-bones' and must hide my expensive gadgets while moving from one area to another. Also, the aluminum chassis has held up 98% 'just like new' throughout the many travels, drops, and food stains it has gone through. In conclusion, if you are looking for a small form factor powerful and sturdy keyboard, this is one to look out for.
In terms of accuracy, I must admit that I am fairly experienced sub-full-sized keyboard typer. At home, I use a wireless Logitech keyboard for my laptop that is a bit smaller than the 'full size' keyboard. When it comes to the iClever, I’d say that my accuracy goes does by roughly 5% when 'I am typing as fast as possible at work.' This results in a non-significant amount of errors that the iPhone iOS can easily fix. While abroad, I have typed full-fledged documents using the keyboard and been able to keep up with a great 'turnaround time' for time-sensitive documents using the iClever and my iPhone. Overall, the small form factor does not prevent me from full-filling whatever I need to type as fast as possible or in fast-typing-required scenarios.
As mentioned above, I use this keyboard nearly every day of the week. Roughly 3 to 4 non-stop hours for each 5 work-day week. That's about 15 to 20 hours a week. The battery has never died one me (thank goodness, that would be a severe handicap in my line of work!). To be safe, I usually charge the iClever every 2 weeks or so. I have used my laptop, iPhone charger, and other miscellaneous USB chargers to charge the keyboard (which has been great for my travels (minimizes what I bring). Overall, battery has been great and dependable.
The 'small' iClever keyboard has performed excellent for the past 9 months I have used it nearly every day. It has received complements from my tech friends and shown itself to be a dependable hardware accessory that works well for my high-demand lifestyle/work and valuable desk-space. I usually don't write reviews, but if there was ever something that truly deserved my recommendation for Radiology Trainees, it is this (and the Logitech G700s mouse).
Hope this helps.
This little keyboard has been a life saver. Takes a bit to get used to with the arrow and number keys, but it's the perfect size, and turns my phone into something I can actually write with. Battery life is unreal knock on wood. Lasts weeks.
I am an author that also works a full time day job. Until finding this keyboard, I was writing on my lunch and break periods using my thumbs and the scrivener app on my phone. It was slow going, but I figured hey I was getting words in. Fast forward to finding the iClever keyboard! It's compact, fitting perfectly in my purse. It immediately connects to my phone when I open it. The smaller keys and layout took a little getting used to, but once I'd used it a few times, I was good to roll. Now I can get a couple thousand words in small times throughout the day. Fantastic product!
I wanted something that I could use with my iPad pro when I travel. Needed something lightweight and small. this had great reviews so I thought I'd give it a try. It works beautifully. Connected with no problems and is so comfortable to use, that I even use it at home. Small backspace took a small bit to get used to, but I didn't find it to be a big deal. The bag it comes in is nice and will protect it from scratches when I toss it in my bag on the go.
This is an excellent folding keyboard. It is compact but still pretty easy on which to type. The base is made of metal, and so quite durable. It is still fairly light and folds up into a very small package. It works with Windows and Android tablets, and also my my smartphone. That makes replying to numerous emails on the go pretty painless.
