They work the best out of all that we are using. Quick and always keep connection!
I have used many iClever products, and this smart plug wifi outlet lives up to the company's high standard of design and quality of build. There are a few steps to go through to get the outlets set up, but once that's done they're simple to operate. The instructions tell you in detail how to perform the setup. You'll need to download the Smart Life app to your IOS or Android device (tablet or phone), and connect your outlet to your home network (select the network and enter the router password). Your outlet will be given a name by default (an unhelpful combination of letters and numerals), but you'll want to change it to something like "corner light" or "hall outlet" -- anything that will conveniently and uniquely identify what you'll be turning on and off. Then you can turn the outlet on or off using the app on your phone or tablet.
More likely, however, you'll want to have voice control. That's where Alexa comes in. Instructions for adding your outlets to Alexa's skills are also included, and are easy to follow. I did find that my Alexa sometimes got confused, and couldn't find the outlets after I had installed them. But I'm confident that this was Alexa's problem, not that of the outlets, since they were still connected to my network and controllable by the Smart Life app. The outlets also come with instructions for using IFTTT to control them.
All in all, this is an excellent product and a good value -- you get two outlets for less than the price that Amazon charges for one of their house brand outlets. Well done, iClever!
In a home full of smart devices, these are a welcome addition to my collection. Although I have an Alexa in every room, Fire TV stick on every television, and a smart bulb in every socket, these are the first smart plugs I’ve ever owned. Obvious to most I found the idea of smart plugs limiting at first, as many of my appliances and devices (that aren’t lights) have an electronic switch (as opposed to manual) that precludes them from turning-on with the simple addition of power to the outlet. For appliances that work with a manual switch, however, these plugs work like a charm!
The setup was certainly not what I would call intuitive, but once I read the instructions and downloaded the app the plugs connected with ease. While these devices unfortunately do not work with “Apple Home” the Smart Life App is easy to use and controls my devices with minimal (almost no) delay. Connecting to Alexa is simple with the Smart Life App Skill enabled, and much like any other smart device I’ve used I found that it’s important to choose a name than can be easily understood. I now use my smart plugs to control my white noise machine, kitchen appliances, and various other devices.
The Smart Life App is very convenient for setting up routines, and I have found that utilizing the timer feature helps me to not forget to turn off appliances and saves electricity. The style and size of the smart plug is also very convenient as they only cover the outlet they are using, leaving the other outlet free for use.
Overall I couldn't be happier with these smart plugs, and I certainly plan to purchase more in the future!
The iClever IC-BS08 smart plug is designed to allow you to use a smart plug while leaving the second plug accessible. Indeed you could use two on the same wall plate. Setup is easy using the using the SmartLife app. If you don’t have the app scan the QR code on the back as shown in the picture to get it.
Remember to have you mobile device on a 2.4 wireless network before you begin. One the switch has been added to the app you can enable the SmartLife skill in Alexa to then control you switch via Alexa.
Since the Google Home came out, I have tried out a wide variety of smart plugs to use with my Google Assistant.
Some of the ones I've used claim to work with Google Assistant and don't, or only work half of the time. However, this was NOT the case with the iClever smart plugs.
These plugs were super quick and easy to set up. All you need to do is download the Smart Life app, plug in the smart plug and press the button, and pair it with the app. From there, you just go into your Google Home app, click to add a device, and add the "Smart Life" service. It will automatically add your iClever plugs to your Google home app, and you can then assign them to particular rooms. These were by far the easiest to setup smart plugs I have used.
These plugs are often incredibly responsive (see my video for example). Other plugs I've used will take up to 10 seconds to to activate after asking Google to turn them on. The iClever plugs respond instantly though, and work faster than me walking to the physical light switch, which is what a Smart Home is supposed to do.
Overall I am very satisfied with these plugs and going forward these are the only ones I would use.
This pair of smart plugs is awesome. As we are getting ready for the winter season, we unpacked our space heater for our baby’s room and we were originally planning on simply manually turning the heater on and off... but with the purchase of this smart plug, we now don’t have to worry about it at all.
This plug is connected to the WiFi and you can control it via the app. What we have done is set up a schedule for the heater so it turns on and off at scheduled times everyday. Oftentimes, this get so hectic in the mornings that we forget to turn off the heater so this will completely solve that issue.
The form factor of this smart plug is about 1/5th smaller in size than the wemo mini smart plug.
We are planning on using the second one for our lamp in the front room to turn on and off on a daily schedule. This is such an awesome way to make our home “smarter.”
I have a collection of WEMO smartplugs of various vintages and they all suffer from the same annoying problem. If there is a power outage, they lose their network configuration and then the subsequent wifi setup process is hit or miss. The iClever units like many new IOT devices, use Bluetooth to setup the wifi and hence the clunky switching from plug's internal wifi to the router wifi is eliminated.
The manual wasn't too much of a help, but I managed to figure out how to configure it and has been working ever since I set them up a month and a half ago. I have them on my room night tables and use them to turn one of them on at dusk, so I can walk to the room with the lights already on, and switch sides when is time to go to sleep, so I know when to lay down and read some book before sleeping. Have never failed once. Great build quality too.
I needed some smart plugs for some space heaters in my house. These are fantastic! Same price as the millions of older round ones that have lower limits, and a very straightforward app to configure them. Now I'm set for the winter - I highly recommend these!
I used the Iclever to control my water fountain, disco ball and a laser as well! I use it in combination with my google home!. It always works great!
The trick for all these smart devices is to have a 2.4 Ghz network!
It took me only few minutes to set it up.
